Fourth Annual CHOP Chari-tea is Feb. 2
Newtown residents and high school freshmen Jenna Silla, Abby Karch and Bitsy Mullarkey are hosting the Fourth Annual CHOP Chari-tea on Feb. 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will be held at the Newtown Presbyterian Church and will benefit the Child Life Center at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
In 2009, Jenna was hospitalized in the pediatric intensive care unit for two weeks at CHOP. During her stay, the activities supplied by the Child Life Center helped her cope with being in the hospital. When she was released, she wanted to do something to thank CHOP for saving her life. So, the CHOP Chari-tea was started. Best friends from childhood, Jenna, Bitsy and Abby have organized, shopped, prepared and hosted the tea for the past four years.
This charity is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for the Child Life Center at CHOP. This center provides arts and crafts, games, and videos for the children. When you’re in the hospital, it’s very helpful to have something to take your mind off of what’s going on. Over the years, the Charitea has helped restock this center at CHOP.
The tea party will feature coffee, tea, hot chocolate, home baked muffins, treats, tea sandwiches and more.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children. Donations are welcome.
