Council Rock Education Foundation Receives Donation
Local philanthropists invest in Council Rock Education Foundation
Local philanthropists Kevin and Sima Zlock have made a contribution of $12,000 to the Council Rock Education Foundation (CREF) in support of innovative educational programs in Council Rock schools.
Kevin and Sima were recognized for their generosity at a recent School Board meeting.
“Education is the most important investment we can make in our children’s future” said Kevin, a local attorney and Newtown resident. “We are excited to be working with the Education Foundation to help provide these programs to excite and engage students in the thrill of learning.”
Three Merit Scholars from Council Rock South (Daniel Eddowes, Jennifer Platt and Jared Sobel) took part in this check presentation, along with Superintendent Mark Klein and CREF Executive Director Suzanne Wray.
Daniel Eddowes spoke briefly about the impact of participating in the Rock Rover NASA project which is being supported in part by a grant from the Education Foundation.
“This project was a great opportunity to be involved in taking a concept through the design/build process and having the resulting prototype taken to the Johnson Space Center and tested in zero gravity.”
The Education Foundation is supporting ten projects in Council Rock schools this year—including an iPad literacy program at Churchville Elementary, a Mobile App Development project at North and a Science Club Astronomy program at Holland Middle School.
CREF is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to securing funds to provide innovative educational experiences and encourage community involvement in support of the Council Rock schools.
