Ambulance Responding to Emergency Involved in Hit-Run Crash
An ambulance responding to a medical call struck by a vehicle that left the scene of the accident in Newtown Township this week.
Police are looking for a vehicle that struck an ambulance responding to an emergency call with its lights and siren activated in Newtown Township.
No serious injuries were reported by police in the crash that happened Tuesday evening at the intersection of South Sycamore Street and Swamp Road.
Statements from the driver of the ambulance and evidence at the scene indicated the striking vehicle was driving on Swamp Road when the accident occurred.
Police said traffic at the intersection had stopped for the ambulance and that the left front end of hit-and-run vehicle struck the right rear of the ambulance.
After hitting the emergency vehicle, the striking vehicle proceeded east onto Washington Avenue and disappeared, police said.
The ambulance driver stopped after the hit and contacted police.
The department reported the ambulance was in good enough shape to be driven from the scene after the accident.
