One more Giant = one more Giant I will not be shopping at. I guess this is good news for Acme and the other grocery stores in the area.

I don't like Giant at all. I think that Giant is a lower-end food store in my opinion, vs. Acme, etc. and I think that those who shop Genuardi's currently won't be interested in shopping at Giant, so Acme will get more business.

In the marketing world it's called having a Monopoly! Smart on Giant's end but the consumers should be outraged!

The only way to get them to leave is not to shop there.

Why do people always think Wegmans is going to move into their old stores? Wegmans operates large, built-from-the-ground-up stores (120,000+ sq. feet). Variety would be nice, but anything is better than an empty retail space in a busy shopping center.

I'll keep driving to Princeton...and Warrington...for Whole Foods

I guess I too will need to investigate what else is around. I didn't like Giant before it was renovated and while now it is very pretty, I still don't like it. Nothing again Acme, but I don't like they way the stock their shelves, you can find a product in three different places in that store, none where you think it might be. Plus it is cold looking and large. But I will most likely go there until I find my new spot. I guess Giant has a huge task in front of them of winning over us loyal Genuardi Customers. Are they up to the task?

I was very pleased when Richboro voted down a new Giant in town, now I'm sad that Newtown will be inflicted with not one but TWO. At the rate that Giant is expanding they seem to want to be the ONLY grocery store option for ALL the customers which is both foolish and impossible. I greatly dislike Giant's stores, their product selection, their low quality meats... There are reasons I avoid the TWELVE STORES within 5 miles of my house... and now they're adding 3 more?! <sigh>

Giant...sigh...another Giant, really? I will not shop at their stores, I did once, it was enough. The drive to Wegman's is worth my time, gas, money and energy. I also smell Monopoly in the air. I suppose that the only way they can get customers is to be the only option in town.

An organic, local co-op would be divine... Or a Whole Foods! In the meantime, I will continue to support the Whole Foods in Princeton, The Grape Vine in Newtown, and Earth Foods in Buckingham...

Sadly communities have very little to say about the commercial operations in their towns, thanks to PA state laws that favor developers and big corporations. Newtown has an additional problem thanks to how often our zoning board prostitutes itself to any business that asks for variances. This is what you get with "business friendly Republicsns" in charge for decade after decade.

Competition at the same level will be good for pricing and service. Look, I'd love a Wegman's but it isn't happening. Let the free market determine our options.

Big Bear Natural Foods! There's one in Lambertville and one on Route 1 next to the Lowe's. It's no Whole Foods or Trader Joes but they have a decent selection of fresh and packaged organic healthy foods.

How is it a monopoly when the competition (Acme) is 500 feet away? A free market is a competitive market and that's exactly what we have and should want.

For those who shop on price, Giant is much better than Acme. For those who shop at leisure for prepared food selection and/or "organic", when price or time isn't an issue for you, there are plenty of close options.

There is a winter Farmer's Market in Wrightstown today, if anyone wants fresh, local produce go check it out. It's in the field next to the Wrightstown Municipal Building on Route 232.

Just found this email address for TJ's and sent them a begging email. Maybe if a lot of us requested their presence in Newtown, they'd pay attention.

monoply or not, food isn't what it it use to be or should be. too many money-hungry people involved (government, labs, etc). there is no flavor in many veggies and fruits(even when i harvest seedlings that i plant in my backyard). that is because they are coming from manufactured seed labs that produce artifically, genetically modified versions. it's like eating fake food. now i have to look for organic, natural varieties to plant. the big stores don't care what they offer us they care about making money from us.

Whole Foods cares as much about making money as Acme or Giant. They just do a better job making you feel good about it.

One Giant was plenty! Maybe if we boycott both of them they will go away! I don't think Giant Lot is large enough to accomadate a Wegmans. I was dissapointed when Safe- way bought Genaurdi's now Giant buys them, that is pretty much the end of the line.

Of course Whole Foods cares about making money just as much as the Acme or Giant- that's what makes them a viable business. They are able to make their customers feel good about it because they sell better products which makes them worth every extra penny spent. Newtown is such a great little town with quite a lot going for it. It's just too bad that our only shopping choices are going to be two Giant stores and an Acme and that so many of us will be traveling to other towns so we can shop at Whole Foods (or Wegman's).

Giant is a Pennsylvania based store chain. It's a good thing to support local businesses. Giant is a large employer of local folks also. I'm sure if enough people mention to Giant Managemant what they would like to see in their store, Giant would have to respond to customer demands. Wegmans and Whole Foods have great specialty items but are also pricey.
