August 13: State Rep. Meeting, Networking & Fires Under Investigation

Essential information about the day ahead in Newtown.

 

1. Local state Rep. Steve Santarsiero will be hosting a meeting with area business leaders to talk about a proposed bill, which would shift part of the local tax burden to an increase in state income and sales tax, as well as talk about incorrect unemployment compensation rates that many area businesses received. The meeting will be held tonight at 5 p.m. at the Chancellor Center.

3. The National Weather Service is predicting mostly sunny skies and a high temperature that will be just over 85 degrees.
