Barre 3 Looking to Set up Newtown Location

Barre 3 is a chain of fitness studios that combines ballet with yoga and pilates.

Barre 3, a chain of fitness studios that combines ballet with yoga and pilates, is seeking to set up a Newtown location.

The Planning Commission tonight will hear details about the proposal to put a fitness studio in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at the township Administration Building.

Barre 3 will need zoning relief from the township to open the fitness studio in a 2,360 square foot foot space in the shopping center.

According to its website, Barre 3 workouts combine "dynamic movement and isometric holds" to "transform the body and develop long term postural benefits."

According to media reports, pop star Madonna is a fan of the Barre 3 workout and has trained with the studio's founder, Sadie Lincoln.

The chain is based out of Oregon but has locations throughout the country and in the Philippines. There are currently two locations in New Jersey. The Newtown location would be the first Barre 3 in Pennsylvania.

The Planning Commission was "not in opposition" of the project moving forward for the Board of Supervisors and Zoning Board to review in February. Fingers crossed!!

Does Barre3 have plans in their back pocket for "mobile studios"?

No plans for the studios to be "mobile" but you can take classes online from their website www.barre3.com. Only $15/mo for unlimited classes, 10 min, 30, 40 or 60 min classes. Great deal!
