The first of two local beer festivals to be held in Newtown this fall is Saturday.

Newtown Borough's Beerfest will be held from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Stocking Works on South State Street. The festival will feature tastings of more than 70 selections, including local and international beers. There will also be food and live music.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at Becky’s Deli, John's Barber Shop, Triumph Brewery in New Hope, Clubhouse Bar and Grill and Isaac Newton’s. They are also available online at www.newtownbeerfest.com.

Participating brewers include Brooklyn Brewery, Chimay, Dogfish Head, Flying Fish, Lagunitas, Magic Hat, Sierra Nevada, Troegs, Yards and more.

“This event is known for its unique mixture of beers with an amazing backdrop of the Stocking Works Complex on State Street,” event coordinator Andrea Schonewolf told Patch last month. “There will also be great live music to enjoy.”

All proceeds from the event benefit the Newtown Fire Association.

Food vendors will include local favorites like Tre Fratelli's, The Clubhouse Bar and Grill, Becky's Deli, The Righteous Pretzel and Joey G's.

Guests should park at the former Stockburger Chevrolet lot; no roads will be closed in the borough due to foot traffic.

General admission tickets can be purchased for $40 and will allow attendees to sample beers of their choice with a souvenir glass provided at the event. The event opens at 2 p.m. for general admission ticket holders.

“First Tap” tickets are available for $75, and include the chance to sample beers for an additional 90 minutes before general admission guests are allowed inside. First tap ticket holders can enter the event at 12:30 p.m. This ticket also includes a t-shirt and a ticket for one free food item.

Additionally, there is a designated driver ticket for $10 that simply includes admission to the event. All guests, regardless of age, are required to show identification at the entrance and will not be admitted without it. Children are not allowed, even if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The second beer related event this fall is Newtown Brewfest, which is sponsored by the Newtown Corporation. That will be will be held Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Newtown Swim Club.
