The cause of last week's fire at the Newtown Villages Shopping Center is still under investigation by township officials.

Newtown Township Fire Marshal Don Harris said on Tuesday he has yet to confirm the cause of the fire, which occurred at Sarcone’s Deli shortly after 1:30 a.m. last Wednesday. The fire caused damage to adjacent businesses, including Marco's Pizza and Nail Perfection and Spa.

No one was injured in the overnight blaze. Firefighters from the Newtown Fire Association, Northampton Volunteers Fire Company and Upper Makefield Fire Company had the fire under control within an hour.

According to sources, Sarcone’s Deli had gone out of business a few weeks ago.
