Charges Filed in Local Jewelry Store Robberies

Ryan Wiley, 23, of Doylestown and Phillip A. Prokop, 38, of North Wales have been charged in connection with three jewelry store robberies in Newtown Township.

Newtown Township police have charged two men who they believe are responsible for a string of jewelry store robberies.

Ryan Wiley, 23, of Doylestown and Phillip A. Prokop, 38, of North Wales have been charged with 30 felonies involving multiple charges of burglary, criminal trespassing and receiving stolen property, for jewelry store thefts in September and October at Bernie Robbins Jewelers and Mayfair Jewelers, according to a report published on phillyburbs.com. 

In Ocotober, Wiley and Prokop were arrested by Horsham Township police for an Oct. 17 burglary at Jems, Jewels and Gold in Horsham Township.

According to the phillyburbs article, the men are believed to have been involved in three burglaries in Newtown Township – on Sept. 12, Sept. 18 and Oct. 11. The first and last burglaries occurred at Bernie Robbins Jewelers. On Sept. 18, the robbers allegedly targeted Mayfair Jewelers.

Police believe the men also robbed a dozen other jewelry stores in the region.
