And where is all the parking since the underground parking is gone and the buildings are set so far back? Did the Newtown Planning Commission consider that Sycamore Street, the Goodnoe property, and the Borough have a real and current issue with REAL parking space availability (compared to the parking and over crowding Ice Cream Alley which should not be allowed for public safety / traffic safety sake)? The illustration looks great - duh, but as someone earlier suggested - the buildings should be more towards the street with sidewalks to imitate the Goodnoe city street look which at first does not appear as "nice" nor as green as the pretty picture, but once you think about it that idea makes a lot more sense then grass taking up needed parking spaces for the five retail store customers and the 26 apartment rental units. With the building toward Sycamore the back becomes real parking spaces. Hopefully the Board of Supervisors will consider traffic safety as well as property (business) owner rights this time ...

Have the developers indicated how many parking places will be available in the revised plan?

they received a variance in November to have 116 spaces. From that article "Local regulations require 152 spaces (two per each apartment and 100 for retail), but traffic engineer Joseph DeSantis presented studies to show that 116 spaces is adequate." What the town really needs there is a parking garage, not more businesses

Is it just me or do the buildings on the sketch seem out of proportion to the actual width of the lot? For perspective, consider that the entrance is a continuation of Lincoln Ave. Curious as to what others think.

All you parking whiners should calm down. We all know once each of you finds a parking spot, you'll be shopping at Anthropologie. Deny it all you wish.

This sketch is horrible! Where is Sycamore? Why would the Township pay so much to make the sidewalks and streetscape on Sycamore nice and walkable just to allow a property to build a suburban office park set hundreds of feet back from the nice sidewalks? What is the Township thinking? I mean, this is better than it sitting abandoned, but I don't understand why they would be so desperate to just approve something that doesn't fit into this street at all. As far as building a cohesive walkable street, this is no better than if they put a car dealership there.

I unfortunately cannot attend the meeting on the 13th -- but anyone who agrees with me...please please please attend and let them know this. This is a unique opportunity to finish making the two full blocks north of Jefferson St on Sycamore a perfect extension of the quaint borough, with the amenity of parking behind each building to support those traveling by car...I really hope the Township doesn't blow this vision on the very last parcel...

Perhaps they have set it back because of the 26 apartments and the noise factor of Sycamore Street...traffic traveling at 35+ miles down the road and the street light right there. But agree it should be forward with parking in the rear. Why does that make sense to all of us and not the planning commission?

I believe the sketch that is shown here is deceiving. I can see how from this picture it looks like the building will be set back. In fact, that's not the case. If you look at the left of the picture and see the white car, imagine that car is ON Sycamore Street. The yellow VW is turning off of Sycamore onto Jefferson. Because the Saloon and other buildings on the East side of Sycamore aren't shown, it looks like this will be set back from Sycamore.

The buildings in the Promenade will have only a sidewalk between them and the street. The parking will be in the rear. The reddish SUV vehicle on the left of the picture is depicted as coming out of the parking lot.

I hope this makes more sense, as it sounds like you're looking for the same "look and feel" of a walkable Sycamore Street as the BOS, Planning Commission, and Sycamore Street Community Association.

Is that going to be a bank on left side? We don't need another so is there a way to block a bank just like the sycamore business association (led by GP) is blocking restaurants from going in there.
