Evening Ceremony Honors 9/11 Victims
An evening ceremony Tuesday honored the local victims of the 9/11 attacks.
"The world is a different place and we are a different people."
Those were the words spoken Tuesday evening by Rev. Doug Hoglund of Yardley's Woodside Presbyterian Church as he spoke to the crowds that gathered at the Garden of Reflection in Lower Makefield to mark the 11-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America.
Philadelphia radio talk show host Michael Smerconish, who helped with fundraising for the memorial, said that memories of the victims fade, but the memorial will help people remember.
Motorcylist, uniformed public servants, volunteers and local youth organizations took part of the ceremony.
At the end of the evening, visitors lit candles to help honor the nearly 3,000 victims who died on Sept. 11, 2001.
KYW-TV anchor Pat Ciarocchi and several local preachers also attended and spoke at the event.
