Expect Trick-or-Treaters Tonight

Power outages from Hurricane Sandy postponed Halloween trick-or-treating.

Any other year, all that would be left of Halloween a week later would be the scattered wrappers of snack-sized candy bars. But this year is different.

Last week's power outages due to Hurricane Sandy caused the borough and the township to weigh in on trick-or-treating.

Borough officials asked resident not to trick-or-treat on Oct. 31 for safety reasons. Trick-or-treating will take place tonight instead.

In Newtown Township, officials didn't recommend children stay in on Halloween but encouraged residents to participate in a second trick-or-treat night in the interest of safety. That second trick-or-treat night will also be held this evening.

What's the latest on trick-or-treating for tonight? It's not looking great out there at the moment!

I can't see taking my own kids out tonight - no chance of rescheduling again?

There's no official word on that. I think at this point, it's something each family/neighborhood has to decide on their own.

Here's an idea. Get creative ! Have your kids dress up and knock on different doors to the rooms in your house, give them the bags of candy you bought. Take silly family pictures in their costumes. It will probably be their favorite holiday memory. Oh yeah, please don't come to my house tonight.

In Newtown Grant - I'll give out candy if anyone shows up, not taking my own kid out.

Apparently, Halloween does not do well as "a moveable feast." Trick or treaters should probably just go out early. Sorry, I don't think that we can move it again.

I'm taking my children trick or treating tonight even with the snow. Halloween is too important in a child's life to take away from them.
It is not my fault that the officials of Newtown can't do their jobs correctly.
