1. A government report shows the past 12 months have been the warmest ever recorded in the mainland United States, according to CNN.com. The article cited a climate expert who said it was "'very hard to root out' the role played by short-term weather patterns and longer-term trends in creating conditions."

I wonder why people have such a difficult time in accepting that there is a good possibility that there are intelligent civilizations that are light years more advanced than we are in this vast universe. My only hope is that if and when they do show up, they are much more benevolent than we are. If not we are screwed. To think that we are the only intelligent life forms in this universe is like the thinking in the middle ages that the earth was flat or that the sun rotated around the earth. Its a mathematical fact that there is intelligent life out there...why some people refuse to accept it is beyond me.
