Luminary kits are again being sold to benefit First Night. The luminaries will be lit starting 5 p.m. Christmas Eve. Kits are $15 and include 15 bags, candles and sand.

The effort, called "Light up the Night," will raise funds for the annual New Year's Eve celebration at Council Rock North.

It is being organized by residents Frank Brassell and John Burke, who is a Borough Council member.

Luminaries will be placed approximately every four feet along the curbs and sidewalks in Newtown Borough.

To participate, complete the order form (located to the right of this story under "PDFs") by Dec. 19. The supplies will be delivered the week before Christmas.

In addition to benefiting First Night, some proceeds from the luminary effort will also go to the Angel Tree Project, which provides gifts for local residents in need, as well as the annual Christmas dinner at Newtown Presbyterian Church.
