Man Steals Gas After Offering Counterfeit $100 Bill, Police Say

A man tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for gas at a service station on Windy Bush Road in Wrightstown, police said.

Police are investigating an incident in which a man tried to use a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for gas at a service station on Windy Bush Road in Wrightstown. 

According to Newtown Township Police, around 8:30 a.m. Thursday, an employee of the gas station called police to report that a man had attempted to pay for $10 worth of fuel with a counterfeit $100 bill. 

The employee told the responding officer that after he declined the currency, the subject tried to use several expired credit cards to pay for his purchase.

After he was told to call someone to pay for the gas, the man said he was going to his car for his phone but instead drove away.  

The counterfeit money was seized and placed into evidence, police said.
