McCaffrey's Sets Up Storefront to Recruit Employees
In a few weeks, McCaffrey's will be opening where Genuardi's is currently located. Employees are being hired for all departments.
McCaffrey’s is making it easy for current Genuardi's employees and area residents to get a job at its newest store, which will be open in Newtown as early as July.
The family-owned supermarket chain has set up a storefront in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center -- just a few doors down from Genuardi's, where McCaffrey's will be setting up shop in just a few weeks.
The storefront, located next door to RadioShack, has a sign posted on the window saying the supermarket is seeking "great people" for full- or part-time opportunities in all departments.
The sign says anyone interested can apply within or at any McCaffrey's location. McCaffrey currently has three locations: Yardley, Princeton, N.J. and West Windsor, N.J. For more information, call 215-752-9440 or visit www.mccaffreys.com.
Owner Jim McCaffrey said he hopes to retain as many current Genuardi’s employees as possible, adding they’ve been through a lot of uncertainty this year.
In January, Giant announced its plans to purchase 16 Genuardi’s stores in the Greater Philadelphia region, including the one in Newtown. However, the deal was subject to FTC approval.
The FTC is the federal agency billed with regulating consumer protections. The close proximity of the proposed Giant to other locations raised a red flag for the agency.
A Giant spokesman said the company agreed to sell the Newtown Genuardi’s store in order to obtain regulatory clearance from the Federal Trade Commission for the other locations.
