Newsweek Ranks Council Rock Schools Among Nation's Best
Council Rock North and South high schools made the list of the country's top 1,000 high schools.

Both Council Rock high schools ranked among the nation's best according to Newsweek.
Council Rock North and South were among the top 1,000 high schools in the country, according to the magazine's 2012 ranking of America's Best High Schools.
Council Rock North came in at 529 and Council Rock South was ranked at 594.
Other Bucks County schools that made the list include Central Bucks East at 381, New Hope-Solebury at 421, Central Bucks West at 548 and Central Bucks South at 740.
Newsweek said it factored in six criteria to reach the rankings.
"Three of those—the four-year graduation rate, college-acceptance rate, and number of AP and other high-level exams given per student—make up 75 percent of the overall score," it said in explaining the methodology.
"Average SAT/ACT and AP/college-level test scores count for another 10 percent each, and the number of AP courses offered per student is weighted as the final 5 percent. Because most of this data isn’t centrally available, we collected it from high-school administrators directly—about 15,000 of them—and received 2,300 responses."

A sad comment on the state of education and parenting in this country. Council Rock schools. Many classes in North are filled with kids on weed, teachers who are teaching to tests and expecting little to nothing in terms of real thinking from the students. Unless you are involved in activities and in the higher level courses, North is a nearly brain dead place. Also, they sent out 15000 requests for information and received 2300 replies - hardly a true representative sample.

Unfortunately the "teaching to the test" and the lack of teaching of critical thinking skills is a problem throughout our state and our country. NCLB is driving much of it, and the lack of any true way to gauge the performance of the teachers. So this is what we get. I am fortunate that my children are in the honors courses, so I think they get a much better education than others, but even in those classes I am often disappointed at what is being taught. (I can't comment on the weed part - I assume you are a current or former student??)

Wow Nicole, glad someone is telling like it is. I'm a parent of two graduates from CRN and even though my son went to West Point and later graduated with a law degree even he will be the first to say that CRN school system lacked in so many aspects. I chose CRN because of the music department and not academia.
