The Kids Club – where parents drop off children six weeks and older as they work out – has been completely redone, with new play areas, an infant room and a craft room. Work on the project began in October.

The Kids Club is also open to the general public for babysitting services. Drop off is permitted for up to four hours and no reservations are required.

In addition to the new play areas and craft room, the new and improved Kids Club has a “My Space” room for children ages 8 and older. The room features Xbox video game systems, cable television and desks for children to do homework. Children using the My Space room don’t need to check in and out of the Kids Club with their parents.

The My Space room was created to meet the needs of children who might feel a bit out of place with toddlers but who still require supervision, explained Kids Club Director Carrie Krieger.

Outside of the My Space room, play area improvements include $2,000 worth of new toys, a television viewing platform and climbing structures atop a padded floor.

Members of the public can check out the new Kids Club this Saturday, Jan. 7, when the Newtown Athletic Club will host its monthly Kids Night Out event from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Parents can drop off children ages 2 and older for the festivities, which will include swimming for kids ages 6 and older, games, pizza and more. The cost per child is $10.

To sign up for Kids Night Out, call the Kids Club at 215-968-0600, ext. 135.
