It's all supply-demand and economics 101. The demand is here with a concentrated borough, and it is a wealthier area, so the people that make up that demand are willing to pay more. Because of this, the suppliers are able to charge more, and they do. Gas stations in Newtown actually have to pay BP/Shell/Mobil/etc. more to get gas delivered here, so they have to raise their prices just to get the same profit margin as a gas station elsewhere.

In economy class your comments might make sense, but in reality, consumers will go where it is cheaper !

It makes sense both in "economy" class and also in the real world. Otherwise these gas stations would be out of business, or priced the same as others, cutting into their profit margins, in order to compete and survive. The demand is there. That doesn't mean that everyone uses them of course.
