The Newtown Holiday Parade will kick off today at 2 p.m. The parade is sponsored by the Newtown Corporation and will begin on South State Street at the Stocking Works building.
Organizers said they expect more than 1,200 people to participate in the parade, including local high school marching bands, Mummers bands, horse drawn carriages, floats, antique cars, color guard, fire trucks, Santa and more.
The parade route goes north on State Street from Stocking Works. From there, it makes a left onto Washington Avenue, then a right onto Sycamore Street. It ends at the Green Parrot.
After the parade, Santa will be at the firehouse on Liberty Street for photos with children. There is no cost to sit with Santa.
