Overnight Blaze Breaks out at Sarcone's Deli
Firefighters from Newtown, Northampton and Upper Makefield had the fire under control within an hour.
A fire broke out at Sarcone’s Deli overnight, causing damage to the building. No one was injured and firefighters from the Newtown Fire Association, Northampton Volunteer Fire Company and Upper Makefield Fire Company had the fire under control within an hour.
The Newtown Fire Association received the report of the fire just after 1:30 a.m. The deli is located in the Newtown Villages Shopping Center on South Eagle Road.
According to information provided by the Newtown Fire Association, Newtown Township Police and Newtown Fire Association Chief Andy Errico arrived on scene and reported heavy fire showing through the roof the strip mall.
“Chief Errico quickly requested an additional ladder truck, and a Rapid Intervention Team. Crews working on the ground and roof went in service with numerous hose lines to prevent the fire from extending further, and were able to bring the blaze under control in just under an hour,” according to information provided from the Newtown Fire Association.
Newtown Township Fire Marshal Don Harris is investigating the fire, along with the Newtown Township Police Department.
Apparatus on scene were: Rescue 45, Ladder 45, Utility 45, Engine 55 (Newtown), Engine 3, Quint 73, Rescue 3 (Northampton), Tower 80 (Yardley-Makefield), and Engine 81 (Upper-Makefield).

It seems really odd to me that they went out of business about 2 weeks ago and now they burned down. Are the adjoining businesses okay? We love Marco's and hope they're ok!

That particular location is cursed, nothing has succeeded there in a long time, if ever.

Just a side note, it seems that the Beauty Depot about 2 stores down also went out of business at the same time. They've been there forever!

Didn't the Thai food restaurant go out of business too? (Siam Cuisine I think it's called)

Something to think about...might not have even started in Sarcone’s Deli. That's why we have Fire Marshalls who will investigate. There are numerous ways that fire could have started.

Just a thought...maybe if the building needs to be knocked down, they could scoot over to the old Acme and knock that one down too? :)
