Philadelphia Orchestra Violinist Is Guest Artist at YOBC Spring Concert

The concert is scheduled for April 28.

 

Jason DePue, first violinist with the Philadelphia Orchestra will perform at the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County's Spring Concerts on April 28.

DePue will play J.S. Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in A Minor with the YOBC Symphony Orchestra during the Advanced Division portion of the concert, held Maple Point Middle School in Langhorne at 7 p.m.

A graduate of Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music, DePue is also a member of the highly acclaimed DePue Brothers Band, which combines bluegrass, classical, and rock genres.

As a family, they have been making music together for more than 25 years. Their albumWeapons of Grass Destruction was released last year. Jason and his brothers were named “Musical Family of America” in 1989 by presidential decree, and were the subject of a nationally televised PBS documentary in 1993. Two brothers (Jason and Zach) were featured in the film documentary Music From the Inside Out in 2005.

The evening concert will also include the YOBC Wind Ensemble and a unique performance of Cucina Bella by the YOBC Percussion Ensemble. The YOBC Junior and Intermediate Divisions will present their Spring Concert at 2 pm the same date and location. The afternoon concert will highlight the string ensembles -Prima Strings, Concertino, Philharmonia - and the Wind Symphony, as well as several chamber groups.

YOBC draws student musicians from across Bucks, Philadelphia and Montgomery counties in Pennslyvania, as well as New Jersey.
