Do they give any type of warning? This has happened in Newtown Place also. What if someone lives alone and is away on business or vacation that week?

This sign reminds me of parking wars on Tru Tv. One episode I think it was in Philly when the streets had to get swept/clean but the sigh's were to small.

I think they just usually just sweep around your vehicle. I don't think they're going to tow your vehicle just to sweep the street.
