On Friday, Christopher Brand, a Giant spokesman, told Patch there was “nothing to announce at this time regarding our agreement with Safeway to purchase 16 Genuardi's stores.” Brand went on to say that Giant was awaiting a decision from the Federal Trade Commission.

Sources from the FTC, when contacted recently, said they had no information to share regarding the deal. According to FTC officials, the official determination on the Genuardi’s to Giant deal hasn’t been released.
