Saturday marked the annual Newtown Beerfest at South State Street's Stocking Works.
The festivities included lots of beer, live music and tastings from several area eateries.
Money raised by ticket sales goes to the Newtown Fire Association. Funds from last year's event aided the Newtown Library, Newtown Historic Association and into an account used for the beautification of the State Street business district in the borough.
Beerfest is one of two beer-related festivals held in Newtown. The Newtown Brewfest will be held in several weeks. Tickets for that event are still for sale.

This year' Newtown Beerfest was beyond compare, definitely the best yet. Over 3000 people attended, it was a spectacular first day of Autumn, and the event was a rousing success from the attendees to the bands to the brewers to the vendors who all sold out of food by day's end. The Newtown Fire Association should pat themselves on the back for a job well done. At least we know where the money from this beer festival goes!
