The Council Rock School Board will discuss the Act 1 Index at its meeting tonight.

The Act 1 index is the limit a school district is permitted by state law to raise taxes. The index for this budget year is 1.7 percent, as determined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

According to the agenda, Robert Reinhart is expected to recommend that the Council Rock School District limit taxation to a 1.7 percent increase or lower, which is compliant with the Act 1 Index.

The agenda indicates the district will not seek an exception to permit it to raise taxes higher than the state allows.
