Supervisors Approve Plans For NAC Pool Complex

The NAC has plans to built an outdoor pool complex by summer 2013.

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors on Wednesday approved plans for the Newtown Athletic Club to construct a new field house and outdoor pool complex.

The field house will take the place of the Baseball Academy that is adjacent to and owned by the club. A turf field the size of a regulation football field will be added next to the field house, the NAC told Patch last year.

The resort-style pool complex, which the club hopes to debut in the summer of 2013, will have features like sprays, slides and various elements. There will also be an adult pool and lounge area.

NAC owner Jim Worthington told the supervisors at a previous meeting that all members will have access to the pools and no summer-only memberships will be sold.

There was little discussion Wednesday, as the matter has been previously reviewed at other supervisors meetings and by the township's Planning Commission.

A pool is great if you want it. And if you dont? Tough luck, because members will pay for it whether they want it or not. A family membership is going to increase by up to $600!

Please clarrify. $600 per month? If that is the case, then the place REALLY is a snob-haven. $600 per year? That is an f-ing BARGAIN for a family........

Increase. Per month. Ie, in addition to the current monthly fee, up to an extra $50 per month. Maybe $600 a year extra out of pocket is a bargain if you have a family and will use the outdoor pool. If you wont use the pool, then thats up to an extra $600 per year going out of your pocket for no additional benefit. A bargain? It all depends on what you want out of a gym. But with the NAC there is no choice (other than not going there of course).
