Supervisors Declare Today 'Newtown, Conn. Day'

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors on Wednesday voted to make Friday, Dec. 21 "Newtown, Connecticut Day."

 

Today is Newtown Day.

But not our Newtown. It's Newtown, Connecticut Day.

The Board of Supervisors on Wednesday passed a proclamation making today Newtown, Connecticut Day. Today is exacty one week after the horrific school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

A proclamation approved the by supervisors states: "We realize that this event, which happened only 150 miles from our township, will never be completely removed from our thoughts."

The proclamation goes on to say "our hope is that this incomprehensible act will draw us closer together, remind us to watch out for not only our own children but our neighbor's children even more and appreciate each day that we have together."
