This week on Newtown Patch, we're examining bridges in the Newtown area that have been deemed "structurally deficient" by PennDOT. Today, we look at the Worthington Mill Road bridge in Wrightstown Township. On April 11, PennDOT closed the bridge and the portion of the road between Twining Road and Swamp Road in Northampton and Wrightstown townships. The bridge is expected to reopen in early June, PennDOT said. PennDOT said crews will replace the wooden bridge deck on the structurally-deficient bridge that was built in 1954.
