This month’s featured poet is: Therese Halscheid. There will also be an open mike.
Therese Halscheid's book of poems, Uncommon Geography, won a Finalist Award for the Paterson Poetry Book Prize. Other titles include Without Home, Powertalk and a Greatest Hits chapbook award by Puddinghouse. Since 1993, she has been a house-sitter to write in varied locations. Her journey has brought forth a connectedness to earth that is often apparent in poems. Her new manuscript After Alaska, chronicles a stay with an Inupiaq Eskimo tribe in the far north. Her poetry and essays have appeared in magazines such as Dos Passos, Connecticut Review, New Delta Review, Tiferet, Natural Bridge, Tampa among others.

The Newtown Library Company, founded in 1760, has been providing the community with books and information for centuries. The current library is located in a historic brick building that dates back to 1912. It is home to a children's collection, fiction and nonfiction, reference books, historic collections and more. The Newtown Library Company also hosts children's storytimes, a poetry group and other events throughout the year.
