 ll present a special one hour Christmas program based on Stories of Chri
 stmas &ldquo\;Giving and Gratitude&rdquo\; Sunday\, December 16\, at 11:
 00 a.m. at the historic Friends Meetinghouse at 219 Court Street\, Newto
 wn.&nbsp\; www.newtownfriendsmeeting.org. &nbsp\;The public is invited.&
 nbsp\; Childcare will be provided.\n&nbsp\;For this special day of progr
 ams\, the traditional Quaker meeting for worship based on gathering in s
 ilence will be held at 10:00 a.m.\n&nbsp\;Angie Ratliff of Pennington\, 
 NJ\, Clerk of the Children&rsquo\;s Education Committee\, said\, &ldquo\
 ;The children wanted to hear about stories of Christmas from families in
  the Meeting\, so they asked them.&nbsp\; These memorable stories will b
 e presented as part of the children&rsquo\;s traditional program at this
  time of year.&rdquo\;&nbsp\;\nThe program will alternate between storie
 s of giving and gratitude from people&rsquo\;s memories of previous Chri
 stmas seasons interspersed with carol singing and music presented by the
  children.&nbsp\; Performances will be given by the children on a variet
 y of instruments\, including piano\, guitar\, and violin.&rdquo\;\nThe r
 obust Newtown Friends Meeting First Day (Sunday) School has 96 children 
 registered in its program.&nbsp\; All teachers are volunteers and many a
 re parents and/or from the teaching staff of Newtown Friends School\, th
 e elementary school governed by Newtown Friends Meeting\, and George Sch
 ool\, the Quaker boarding school in Newtown.&nbsp\;\nThe children and te
 achers plan a series of classes around religious themes during the acade
 mic year.&nbsp\; They also produce special programs for the entire Meeti
 ng at Christmas and Easter as well as host dinners at the Meetinghouse t
 o raise funds for community service projects.\nFollowing the children&rs
 quo\;s program\, there will be finger food for everyone in the Gathering
  Room of the historic Meetinghouse.&nbsp\; The public is invited to atte
 nd all events. Newtown Friends Meeting was co-founded in 1815 by Quaker 
 minister and artist\, Edward Hicks.
