Local residents prize the school for its music and athletic programs. It offers a wide variety of other extracurricular activities and organizations, such as the ping pong club and the bowling team. South is the counterpart to Council Rock High School North, located just over the township border in Newtown, and the two schools have a healthy rivalry between them.
