DESCRIPTION:Pippin\, the tale of a young prince on his search for persona
l significance\, comes to the George School stage in Walton Center Audit
orium on Friday and Saturday\, May 18 and 19\, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. The hip
\, tongue-in-cheek fairy tale\, which captivated Broadway audiences in t
he 1970s\, features an energetic pop-influenced musical score. The perfo
rmances are free and open to the public. Based on the book by Roger O. H
irson\, Pippin features show stopping music and lyrics by Oscar-winning
composer Stephen Schwartz. The play tells the story of the young son of
King Charlemagne the Great who sets out on a quest to find true happines
s and fulfillment. He seeks it in the battlefield\, the temptations of t
he flesh\, and the intrigues of political power. &ldquo\;Pippin seems a
logical story for teenagers to tell\,&rdquo\; said theater teacher and d
irector Maureen West. &ldquo\;I believe they understand his journey thro
ugh the trials of politics\, war\, and love because they are talking abo
ut and experiencing these topics everyday in their own lives.&rdquo\;\nP
