Halloween Flashlight Hunt, Picture Retakes at Newtown Middle

A look at the day ahead in Newtown.

Here's what's happening Friday, Oct. 25 in and around Newtown:

  • Newtown Parks and Recreation is hosting a flashlight Halloween Hunt for children ages 11 to 14. The event will feature trick-or-treating, a costume contest and snacks. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. at Roberts Ridge Park, 286 Frost Ln. It costs $10; click here to register
  • Friday is picture retake day for Newtown Middle School students.
  • Time to dust off that old bike. The local Rotary Club will hold a collection Saturday for Pedals for Progess, a nonprofit organization that ships used bicycles to developing countries. Click here for details.
  • If you're interested in getting involved in local theater, auditions for Newtown Arts Company's upcoming performance of "Twelfth Night," begin Saturday. Click here to find out how to schedule an appointment.
  • The Town and Country Players in Buckingham will perform "This Thing Called Love," a cabaret-style musical, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. There will also be a matinee Sunday at 3 p.m. The theater is located at 4158 York Rd., Buckingham. Tickets are $15.
