The President weighs in on the value of a college education!

“In the face of global competition, a great education is more important than ever.  A higher education is the single best investment you can make in your future.  Single best.”  Those were the words of President Obama in his talk last Thursday.  For students wondering whether or not to invest in a college education, the President offered up some eye-opening statistics:

*The unemployment rate for Americans with a college degree is about a third lower than the national average.
*The incomes of Americans with a college degree are more than twice the incomes of Americans who don’t have a high school diploma.

Those are alarming statistics for any student questioning whether or not to pursue a college education!  There are frightening statistics as well, in the President’s speech, about the rise in college costs in recent years and the amount of debt with which students are graduating.  This information highlights the importance for students to start preparing well in advance of their senior year of high school, in order to set themselves up to get the best college education possible while incurring the least amount of debt.

There is serious work to be done in:

*Getting the best grades possible in school.
*Getting the highest SAT scores possible.
*Researching college scholarships.
*Analyzing which colleges are likely to provide the most merit money.
*Putting in some serious effort and getting professional help where needed, with SAT preparation and college applications, can make all the difference in the final price tag for that all important college degree!
