Berry Celebration, Live Music at This Weekend's Farmers' Market

The Wrightstown Farmers' Market is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. It's located on Second Street Pike, next to the Wrightstown Township Municipal Building.

There’s a lot going on this weekend at the Wrightstown Farmers’ Market.

There will be a berry celebration plus live entertainment, and of course oodles of fresh, seasonal fruits and veggies. The berry celebration will feature fresh blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, plus treats made with them.

The market, which is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. next to the Wrightstown Township Municipal Building on Second Street Pike, is open rain or shine through November.

In addition to fresh fruits, vegetables, poultry, breads, coffee and other products from local producers, the market has live entertainment. This Saturday, the Goose Creek Pioneers will perform folk and country tunes for the crowd.

Market Manager Robin Hoy said she expects first-of-the-season sweet peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, okra and cabbage to be for sale this weekend.  There will also be fresh-picked sweet corn, mushrooms, berries, cucumbers, green beans, zucchini, lettuces, salad mixes and summer squash.  Fennel, carrots, red beets, celery, scallions, Swiss chard, dandelion greens and radishes should also be available.

The market has much more than produce, though. Stop by to find 100 percent grass-fed beef, pasture-raised poultry, pork, lamb, eggs, goat cheeses, yogurt, butter, flowers, breads, baked goods, raw honey, beeswax candles, maple syrup, prepared foods, and even handmade soaps and non-toxic bug spray.

Donations of produce for the Penndel Food Pantry are welcomed at the Foodshed Alliance table all season, Hoy noted.
