Breezy Point Day School is organizing a holiday gift drive to support the families of Breezy Point, New York, who have lost so much due to Hurricane Sandy.
"We will drive up in convoy with several cars laden with gifts to Breezy Point, N.Y. on Dec. 9 and welcome any donations from the public," a press release from Breezy Point said.
The Hurricane swept through the peninsula of Breezy Point and knocked out power lines, created a fire that burned down 80 to 100 homes and destroyed many other homes. As a result a huge number of Breezy Point residents are now homeless and trying to rebuild their lives.
Here's how you can support this effort:
● Purchase a gift. Be sure to wrap it and note the age range and gender.
● When wrapping a gift, keep all tags on items so the recipients will have the option to return or exchange, if necessary.
● Be sure gift cards are well boxed and identifiable so that they are not inadvertently tossed. (Gift card suggestions: Visa, Target, Babies ‘R Us, Toys ‘R Us, Walmart, Gap, iTunes.)
● If making a monetary donation, write checks payable to BREEZY POINT DISASTER RELIEF FUND, place the check in an envelope which is also clearly labeled BREEZY POINT DISASTER RELIEF FUND.
Drop off wrapped gifts at the school office anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Breezy Point Day School is located at 1126 Bridgetown Pike, Langhorne.
