Extreme Heat Expected Wednesday

Heat index values are expected to top 100 degrees, with high temperatures in the mid 90s.

A heat advisory is in effect for the Philadelphia region from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service has announced.

Heat index values are expected to top 100 degrees, with high temperatures in the mid 90s. It will be extremely humid, forecasters predict.

Temperatures are expected to dip Thursday, with thunderstorms and highs in the mid-80s predicted for most of the region.

“This hot and humid weather could be dangerous for anyone with outdoor plans today,” the advisory states. 

The National Weather Service offers the following tips: stay cool in air conditioning; avoid spending time outside during mid-day hours; avoid strenuous outdoor activity; drink plenty of water and check up on elderly neighbors.
