A new choral group has started at the James E. Kinney Senior Center.

The group, called the Northampton Senior Singers, is under the direction of Kay Hurewitz, Esther Kay and Pete Palestina.

“You don’t have to be a great singer, just someone who wants to sing, have fun and feel good," said Kay. ”Our singers are non-professional and we are all about being together and enjoying ourselves.  We sing with a karaoke as well as with lyric sheets."

Kay sang in a choral group for 17 years a studied for three years.  Esther was part of a choral group for many years and Pete sang in chorus in high school as well as singing in doo-wop groups as a teenager and throughout the 1960’s, according to an announcement on Northampton Patch.

If you’re interested in joining, contact Pete Palestina at 215-322-1153 for more information.

The group meets at the center, 165 Township Rd, on Mondays at 1 p.m.
