Inaugural Celtic Fest Just Days Away

Tickets are still available for the festival, which benefits Pickering Manor.

 

Newtown is gearing up for the inaugural Celtic Fest, which will be held this Saturday at 3 p.m. at the  Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.newtowncelticfest.com or at the Newtown Theatre box office.

The event is presented by and benefits , a local senior-living facility. It will feature live music from three bands, Irish dancers, bagpipers and a cash bar serving Guinness and Harp beer.

Featured performers include RUNA, Timlin and Kane, Birmingham Six and the Fitzpatrick Dancers.

Doors open at 2 p.m., when Irish beer will be offered at an outdoor cash bar before the show. Only those who are 21 and older with tickets will be permitted at the bar area.

According to event organizers, RUNA brings a contemporary experience to traditional and more recently composed Celtic material. The duo of Timlin and Kane has played to great acclaim throughout the East Coast for more than 38 years. Birmingham Six mixes traditional, rebel, contemporary and original Irish music to form its sound.

The Bucks County-based Fitzpatrick School of Irish Dance is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Irish culture through the traditional art of Irish step dancing.
