AOY Summer Art Camp

Note: No classes July 4 this week

About Sports. Ages 5-8. Teaching Artist:  Christina Harrison. Soccer, baseball, basketball, hockey and more will be the focus of the works of art in this course. You will learn about different sports and choose your favorite ones to create a painting of a sports scene, a pastel drawing of sports equipment and a colored pencil drawing of yourself playing sports.

Origami -  NEW! Ages 9-12. Teaching Artist:  April Zay
Learn from the Asian art of paper folding and create beautiful 3-D pieces from colorful papers. You will make different types of Origami folds and modular pieces. By the end of the week, you will be able to follow printed directions, make traditional designs and create display pieces such as flowers and origami sculpture.

Printmaking with Unusual Objects. Ages 5-8. Teaching Artist: Amy Julin. We’ll go on a hunt for objects to use for prints. Learn about basic printmaking by starting with foam, sponges and cardboard, but then we’ll use grass, rocks, or whatever else we find that will create beautiful shapes and textures. Turn your favorite prints into a final masterpiece.
