George School's Dance Eclectic

Take a step back in time and enjoy favorites from years past during George School’s exciting annual Dance Eclectic on Friday and Saturday, April 20 and 21, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. Held in Walton Auditorium the event is free and
open to the public.

Performed by members of Barb Kibler’s dance classes,
this year’s retrospective theme will feature student choreography to musical favorites from the past two decades. In addition to the more than thirty student dancers, including those in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, there will be a few special guests from the George School community.

Since 1991, this eagerly-anticipated annual dance production has been anything but usual.

“When we started Dance Eclectic we had ten dancers, we did one show and about two hundred people showed up,” said Barb. “We’ve grown into a show featuring about thirty-five students performing two shows to an enthusiastic and full audience! The kids have worked super hard to put on a strong show.”

The audience can look forward to creative choreography set
to eclectic musical selections including, Love Shack, Think of You, Always With Us, Um Bop, Hot Lunch,
Booty Swing, Fiery Nights, among many others.

The production will also feature sets designed by Scott Hoskins and his stagecraft
theater students.

Dance Eclectic is one of nine performances
organized by the George School Arts Department during
the 2011-2012 school year. The Arts Department offers more than thirty arts courses in ten different visual and performing arts forms, with Advanced Placement
and International
Baccalaureate
course options.
