Local Ideas For Children's Birthday Parties

Whether your child likes ice cream or art, there are several fun ideas for local birthday celebrations.

It used to be that pizza, cake and some balloons were the recipe for a good kids party. But these days, many birthday parties are held out of the house at parks, restaurants or museums.

Whether you're looking to celebrate with ice cream or athletics, throwing a first birthday bash or a tween gathering, we have some ideas for local kids parties.

Zebra Striped Whale: Make your own ice cream sundae, get your face painted and play pin the tail on the whale. Party packages at start at $225 for 10 children. Each additional child costs $17.95. Find out more on their website.

Bucks County Children’s Museum: The Bucks County Children’s Museum will be open its doors Nov. 1 in New Hope. Party reservations will be accepted at that time. A party there features a day at the museum and an hour-and-a-half in a private party room. The standard package will be for a group of 15 children, with the possibility of adding more. Creation Station: Creative kids will love creating pottery at . Parties can be held in the private party room, which holds 25 people, or upstairs in the studio, which holds 32 people. Creation Station offers two types of parties. At the “Paint, Glitter and Go" party, kids use acrylic paints to paint a collectible item and are able to bring it home with them. The cost is $15 per child. The second option is a “Paint and Fire" party in which guests make mugs, plates or collectibles. The cost is $17 per child. You'll need to bring your own food. Newtown Athletic Club: For active children, the offers several types of parties for children of all ages. Most parties run for 90 minutes and start at $250 for members and $295 for nonmembers. For more information, check out their website.

Little Gym: Also for the active groups, the offers parties for children ages 1- 12 a chance to run, play and burn off energy. Standard parties start at $245 for members and $275 for non-members and includes a party for 13 children. Check availability here.

Chick-fil-A: If you want to host a low-key party, there is always . For $7 per child, each kid gets a four-piece chicken nugget meal complete with a small french fry and ice cream. The restaurant will set up and decorate tables with balloons. After eating, kids can run around the indoor play area. Chick-fil-A offers parties in two-hour time slots. Pony Rides and Petting Zoo: Whether you would like ponies for petting or riding, Sleepy Hollow Entertainment will come to you. Parties generally begin at $250 and go up from there depending on the size and day. The ponies can accommodate babies, toddlers and children up to 100 pounds.
