Newtown Celtic Fest Set for May 19

St. Patrick’s Day may have passed, but there’s still a chance to celebrate your Irish heritage next month in Newtown.

The inaugural Newtown Celtic Fest will be held Saturday, May 19 at 3 p.m. at the

The event will feature live music from three bands, Irish dancers, bagpipers and a cash bar serving Guinness and Harp beer. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.newtowncelticfest.com or at the Newtown Theatre box office.

Featured performers include RUNA, Timlin and Kane, Birmingham Six and the Fitzpatrick Dancers.

Doors open at 2 p.m., when Irish beer will be offered at an outdoor cash bar before the show. Only ticketholders are permitted at the bar and you must be 21 to enter and drink.

According to event organizers, RUNA brings a contemporary experience to traditional and more recently composed Celtic material. The duo of Timlin and Kane has played to great acclaim throughout the East Coast for more than 38 years. Birmingham Six mixes traditional, rebel, contemporary and original Irish music to form its sound.

The Bucks County-based Fitzpatrick School of Irish Dance is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Irish culture through the traditional art of Irish step dancing.
