Tyler Park Center For the Arts Offering Winter Workshops

Registration now open for winter session workshops for children, teens and adults at Tyler Park Center for the Arts.

 

Explore fiber art, meet Medusa and King Midas, create silver jewelry and more at the Winter Session of Tyler Park Center for the Arts Workshop Series.  Classes begin Jan. 16 and run through Feb. 25 include a variety of fine arts and theme-based workshops for children pre-K through 13 and adults.

“We’re very excited about this session’s workshop offerings," said TPCA Program Director Donna Hurwitz, “We have two new teaching artists: Gina Tavelli with a Fiber Art Workshop for kids 5-8 years old as well as a One Day Valentine Workshop on Feb. 4 using fiber to make sassy wristgloves and plush hearts. Leanne Blevins, owner of Magic Glass Art, joins us with glass dots, frit and noodles for a children’s Glass Fusion workshop on Wednesdays starting Jan. 18.

“Precious Metal Clay artist and instructor, Wendy Schuster, brings her outstanding one-day PMC workshop to us on January 21,” Hurwitz added. “Wendy has taught beginning, advanced, and certification classes and is a juried artisan at the state and local levels. We’re delighted to offer this workshop.”

Some of the children’s workshops include: Art Explorers with Andrea Santoro, Who’s Who in Greek Mythology with Marketa Garces, Papier Mache Art with Oz Freedgood. Workshops for ages 12 and up are: Drawing in Multiple Mediums with Gwen Stevenson and Oil Painting for Beginners and Beyond with Donna Hurwitz.

In addition to the PMC Workshop, TPCA is offering “Single Sheet Bookmaking” for ages 15 and up presented by Barbara Korb; as well as weekly daytime painting courses for adults in oil and acrylics taught by Donna Hurwitz and watercolor taught by Gwen Stevenson.
