Anthropologie Coming to Sycamore Street

Anthropologie will open a store on Sycamore Street in a mixed-use development at the old Acme site.

It’s official. Anthropologie is coming to Newtown.

The developers of The Promenade announced Wednesday that they have reached an agreement for the store to become the project’s anchor tenant.

According to an announcement by The Promenade management partners, headed by Jim Worthington, Anthropologie will open a store on Sycamore Street in the mixed-use development slated for the old Acme site.

Currently, the closest Anthropologie stores are located in Princeton, N.J. and Philadelphia. The store sells a mix of clothing, accessories, gifts and home décor.

David Ziel, Chief Development Officer at Urban Outfitters, the parent company of Anthropologie, said the company is "very excited" about being able to move forward with a store in Newtown.

When complete, The Promenade will be made up of 26 luxury apartments and up to six high-end retailers. The project will be located in Newtown Township at Jefferson and North Sycamore streets.
