Bagel Junction, the popular Newtown Township breakfast spot, has closed its doors for good.
In a Facebook post Monday, Matthew Seidner, whose family owns the shop, said it closed Sunday.
Here is the full text of his message:
It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that as of 5pm on Sunday October 14th 2012, Bagel Junction Deli and Caterers is permanently closing its doors. My Grandfather began his dream of bringing the classic taste of New York City to Newtown, PA in January of 1992. With my Father at the helm, we have seen great successes over the past two decades of serving the Newtown community.
Before I was even able to pick up a knife, this store was my home. I have distant memories of running up and down the back line as a toddler, making deliveries with my Dad through middle school, spending countless summers perfecting the fine art of sandwich making in high school and even driving back on weekends from college to contribute to the family business that I grew to love. Not a single one of our employees will say the work was easy, but the chance to make you smile through our food was more rewarding than you can imagine.
Though this is the end for Bagel Junction, seeing what two generations of my family built through the years leaves me beaming with pride. The blood sweat and tears my Grandfather and Father have put into Bagel Junction have helped shape who I am today. 20 years ago my Grandfather turned the oven on for Bagel Junction’s inaugural bake. Yesterday, my younger brother and I turned the oven off for the final time.
To each and every one of you, thank you for letting us serve you over the years, thank you for the memories and the smiles, and most importantly on behalf of my Grandfather and Father, thank you for being a part of our family.
