Korean Restaurant Opening Tuesday in Newtown

KO is scheduled to open Tuesday in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center. It will be the second local restaurant for owner John Im.

The owner of Oishi is opening his second restaurant in Newtown this week. 

KO, which will serve modern Korean cuisine, is scheduled to open Tuesday in the Village at Newtown Shopping Center. It will be the second local restaurant for owner John Im.

KO will be located where Oishi was before it moved across the shopping center in late March. KO's menu features a fresh, modern take on traditional Korean dishes, according to a restaurant spokesperson.

The restaurant has a liquor license and plans to pair Asian beers, sake, wine and Japanese whiskeys to compliment the food. The contemporary atmosphere seats about 100 patrons.

The menu includes everything from soup, salads and small plates to dumplings, rice and noodle dishes. The bar will serve Sapporo and Asahi beers on tap, as well as others. There will be sake sangria as well as whiskey.
