Portion of Sycamore to Close Today for Special Event

The Sycamore Under the Stars community cocktail reception will be held this evening from 7 to 10 p.m. at Goodnoe's Corner.

North Sycamore Street will be closed between Silo and Durham roads today between 2 to 11 p.m. for the Sycamore Under the Stars event.

The community cocktail reception will be held this evening from 7 to 10 p.m. at Goodnoe’s Corner.

The event is presented by the Sycamore Street Community Association (SSCA) and McCaffrey’s Markets. During the event, long-time Sycamore Street resident Vincent A. Lombardi will receive the SSCA Newtown Community Leadership Award.

The event will feature a tent on the street with food and dancing. Point Blank will play music and refreshments will be provided by Sycamore Street restaurants, including the Green Parrot,The Saloon, Sycamore Grill and Sweet Pea.

Lombardi is the president emeritus of the SSCA and former chairman of the Sycamore Street Reconstruction Committee, which oversaw the planning, design and reconstruction of Sycamore Street. He is also a former Newtown Township Supervisor, Planning Commission member and Newtown Township Historic Architectural Review Board member.

The title sponsor for this inaugural event is Newtown newcomer Jim McCaffrey and McCaffrey’s Markets. Other sponsors include Pennoni Associates Engineers & Consultants, Conner & Associates, Bill Marsh Ford, Leck Waste Services, Newtown Rental Center, Goodnoe’s Corner/US Realty, Tyrol Insurance, the Green Parrot, Burns Auto Repair, First Federal Banks of Bucks County and McMahon Associates. 

Proceeds from the event will benefit American Flag maintenance along the Street and to assist the association’s mission to preserve and promote the Sycamore Street town-center.
