Smoothie King Coming to Newtown

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors on Wednesday approved the chain's conditional use application for a shop in the Village at Newtown South Shopping Center.

Smoothie King, a chain that serves an array of smoothies and health food products, has received approval to open in the Village at Newtown South Shopping Center.

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors on Wednesday approved the chain's conditional use application for a shop in the strip mall that includes Primo Hoagie's and Marco's Pizza.

According to its website, Smoothie King offers a variety of products, including smoothies, snacks and vitamin supplements.

Smoothie King's founder Steve Kuhna invented the smoothie in the late 60s, the website states. He opened the first store in 1973 and since then, the chain has grown to more than 600 locations nationwide and in Seoul, Korea.
